Design location

Witchcraft boards are designed in the north of Fuerteventura. The advantage of the north shore of Fuerte is that there are over 10 different spots for different wind and swell directions within 10-20 minutes drive. Maybe there is not such a clearly defined wind season as the other Canary Islands but all over the year there is an at least as high average of sailing days if you can also make use of less windy conditions when the quality of the waves is usually better. Fuerte offers conditions from 10 to 40 knots, from off- to onshore with waves from 0,5m to +6m. And Witchcraft boards are tested in all these conditions.
As a custom board company Witchcraft has always used the best materials and all of the Witchcraft team riders use 1 or max. 2 wave boards, consequently increasing the need for boards with a big range of use even more.
The boards get tested by the Witchcraft team riders. Witchcraft spends practically all their time designing, building and testing wave boards, not just in between the free-move-style-ride-race-slalom-formula boards.

The rail shape

The (r)evolutionary progressive rail shape ives Witchcraft boards the advantage in added up sailing performance over any other boards. For 2008 we have continued refining our railshape. The front part of the rail has a lot of "tuck" and lift, creating nearly 3 cm of extra rocker when putting the board on its rail. If you put the board flat, our parabolic fast rocker gives a flatter, more efficient planing area. In the rear half of the board our rail becomes even a little sharper than 2007, adding even more to early planing, speed, responsiveness to turning impulses and a rail bite which makes you feel the board accelerates through the turn.

Witchcraft Tri fin system

With more fin area and less leverage the tri fin significantly improves performance, which is especially an advantage in less than ideal conditions such as less wind, on shore, smaller or shorter waves, currents. Earlier planing, much better upwind, more manoeuverable, more drive, more playfullness. The Witchcraft Series can still be converted to single fin for lean back-blasting or very fast cross-off, down-the-line wave sailing. For anything else Witchcraft recommends the tri fin. With the tri fin a sailer can catch more waves. The Tri fin requires an upright sailing stance, driving more of the front foot / mast foot, rather than a leaning out slalom style.

2008 Features

For 2008 Witchcraft has redesigned the outline. The boards have become 2cm shorter. The max. width has increased and moved forward but the tail and nose have become narrower. This makes the board more manoeuvrable and controlable so you can link more tight high speed turns together, no matter whether itīs on or cross shore. Planing and upwind ablity have remained as good as they allready were. This gives a big windrange combined with good manoeuvrability and a long rail line for hard bottom turns. The swallow tail gives grip and drive.

For 2008 Witchcraft has also developed a new inverted V bottom shape. This shape combines the drive and grip of a mono concave with the shock absorbing effect a normal V bottom gives. The Witchcraft Serie boards have become more responsive and have more drive and control through the turn.
